Thing 6: Image generator

This took time, partly because of many choices and then decisions to make and partly because it's been a long day. It was wonderful to see the possibilities. This could be used for bookmarks and signs.

Thing 5: More Flickr fun

I looked at some of the options and chose Color Pickr and puzzles to add to my blog.
These toys and all the "more Flickr" possibilities could lead to forgetting to get back to work. Good thing it's Sunday. I can see using the tools on a web page or publicity for library events. If one had the time, it would be great to add some of the mashups to the teen link of our webpage.

Thing 4: Flickr

I have never gotten into taking pictures. In the last few months, however, I have taken a few at the library and learned how to save them on the computer.
It was helpful to learn about Flickr and it turned out to be a fun tool.
I created a Flickr account and added pictures from the library. I posted one of them to the blog which was taken from an event at the library.

Thing 3: Adding RSS reader and feeds

The RSS reader is a great tool. I can see where it will be a time-saver as I had already spent a fair amount of time looking at the blogs of other participants in the 23 things. On the other hand, as I add feeds, it could take up more time, reading news and articles more frequently and from more sites than I am currently doing. That's a choice, though, and I can always delete feeds. So, all in all it is pretty exciting. I would like to share this tool with staff. I found it easy to add feeds once I had the button on the toolbar.

Thing 2 What is Library 2.0

The video by Stephen Abram was inspiring with his concept of empowering oneself in this learning process and of looking at the unintended consequences. It's too early for me to reflect on that, but I would like to keep it in mind. Finding the time to learn the 23 things is going to mean working at it in the evenings and weekends, for the most part. The articles were helpful in my understanding of Library 2.0 I think that we need to accept the challenge of "embracing constant change" and of trying to look at the needs and interests of the community to determine how we offer services. I would like to talk to others about how we can find out what our customers (or potential customers) would like, but I suspect that part of the feedback will come by simply trying some things and seeing what kind of interest is out there.

Blog created

Creating a blog was easier than I thought. This is encouraging as I go forward to try the other things.
There is so much potential for the new tools and I feel that I am behind on all of this. It's never too late
to learn and I am looking forward to it.
